I have been lucky enough, or old enough to have seen some great bands at the now defunct CBGB in New York’s Lower East Side. My first visit was christened with David Byrne and Talking Heads. The Ramones and Debera Harry followed later. The Clash’s London Calling: 25th Anniversary Edition is still an all time favorite album of mine.
So why am I telling you this? Well for starters Indie bands are reinventing the all time greats with a totally fresh perspective. New Wave or post-
What’s really interesting is the host of unsigned up and comers who are creating an even fresher sound in their bedrooms or as the genera goes, their “Garages” Artists like Lucky Pineapple…Silent Sundays and Addison.
I am not at all surprised to see how these new Artists are influencing fashion, well not exactly fashion, lets call it style. On the one hand they pay homage to the greats, but then they throw in a wild mix of classic thrift store buys, and even Ebay vintage classics. Here are a few boards I am playing around with for a new little capsule collection for online purchase only. That’s right this site has a full ecommerce backend built and ready to go as soon as the product is ready, which will be around September. But don’t worry my Winter collection will hit selected Mr. Price stores in June so the wait is not all that bad.
